Hydrogen

Bipolar plates made from plastic compounds with a high graphite content

 

As pioneers in plastic components for hydrogen technologies, we specialize in the production of bipolar plates for electrolyzers and fuel cells. For years, we have been developing innovative manufacturing technologies in collaboration with research and industry partners and have contributed to several groundbreaking research projects.

 

Plastic-based bipolar plates offer excellent corrosion resistance and durability against aggressive chemicals, significantly extending the service life of electrolyzers and fuel cells. Thermoset variants also provide outstanding thermal stability, making them ideal for high-temperature applications.

 

With our expertise in processing advanced materials, we supply systems for the production of bipolar plates in formats up to 850 x 650 mm – using both powder and transfer molding technologies.

OVERMOLDING OF PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS

Overmolding sensitive electronic circuit boards

 

Electronics in vehicles are often exposed to extreme conditions. Transmission control units, for instance, must withstand vibrations, heat, and prolonged exposure to dirt and transmission fluid over many years.  But it’s not just in the automotive sector – electronic components in aviation and many other industries also need effective protection from environmental influences. Thanks to the high thermal resistance of thermoset materials, applications in power modules for e-mobility are also possible.

 

A highly effective solution for these demands is the overmolding of printed circuit boards with thermoset materials using the transfer molding process. This approach not only significantly improves resistance to environmental stressors but also offers considerable cost advantages compared to conventional housing solutions.

 

With our know-how we provide customers with complete solutions for plasticizing, molding, and part handling. Optimal cycle times are achieved through technologies such as rotary table presses. Our comprehensive service concept includes support in tool design as well as lifetime maintenance and modernization of our customers’ equipment.

Our portfolio includes auxiliary machines such as plasticizing units and tablet press systems – available as standalone equipment or integrated into automated press systems. 

This also encompasses dosing units for EP- and phenol-based compounds, moist polyester dispensers, strainers, and piston extruders for the purification of raw silicone as well as for shaping plastics and ceramic materials.
